Renogy sells more portable solar panels than almost anyone, and the lineup is confusing: “200W portable solar panel” can mean a light folding panel for a power station, a 28-pound suitcase with a charge controller for a 12V battery, or a newer REGO model. Buying the wrong type is the most common Renogy mistake. This guide sorts them into two families and tells you which one fits your setup.

Family 1: Renogy folding panels for power stations

These are thin, fabric-backed folding panels with no controller, made to plug into a power station’s solar input. Renogy’s current versions use N-type cells rated around 25% efficiency and a 12V-class voltage (about 21–22V open-circuit), which works with virtually every station — one panel on small 30V stations, two in series on 60V stations.

Renogy 200W Portable Solar Panel for Power Stations

The model most people should buy. 200W in roughly a 24 × 23 in folded package. Renogy’s lightweight E.FLEX 200W in this class weighs about 13.9 lb, has USB-A and USB-C ports, and is rated IP65 (splash-resistant; pack it up in heavy rain). Check the listing for the included cable — you may need an MC4-to-XT60 or MC4-to-DC8020 adapter for your station.

Renogy 100W Portable Solar Panel for Power Stations

Half the size and price. Right for 250–500Wh stations or as a second panel. Too slow on its own for a 1kWh station (about 14 sun-hours to refill).

Renogy REGO 200W Foldable

Renogy’s newer REGO line is aimed at power-station users who want a sturdier folding panel. Compare current price and kit contents against the 200W above; the two target the same buyer.

Family 2: Renogy suitcase kits with a charge controller

These are rigid, aluminum-framed panels hinged like a suitcase, with a controller mounted on the back and alligator clips or ring terminals for a 12V battery. They are heavier but last for years, and they’re the classic choice for charging an RV’s house battery without wiring anything permanent.

  • Renogy 200W N-Type suitcase: about 28.5 lb, folds to about 34 × 23 × 3 in, Voc about 21.5V, includes a 20A PWM controller, 5-year warranty.
  • Renogy 100W suitcase: roughly half the weight, with a 20A controller — enough for a weekend of lights, water pump, and fan.

Don’t plug a suitcase’s controller output into a power station; use the raw panel output (bypass the controller) or buy a folding panel instead.

Common questions

Are Renogy portable solar panels good?

Yes. Renogy is one of the longest-running names in RV and off-grid solar. The main thing to get right is buying the correct family for your battery.

Will a Renogy panel work with my EcoFlow or Jackery?

Yes, with the right adapter cable (MC4-to-XT60 for EcoFlow/Anker, MC4-to-DC8020 for Jackery v2). Check the voltage limits in our pairing guide.

Which Renogy panel for an RV?

For the RV’s own 12V battery, a suitcase kit with a controller. For a power station inside the RV, a folding “for power stations” panel. More in best portable solar panels for RVs.
